Summary of Covid-19 business grants and support

Below is a summary of the different schemes, eligibility criteria, eligible periods and how to apply. Full details of all schemes are available by following the links.

Your business may qualify for more than one grant so you may need to complete more than one application form or process.

It is also important to remember that some business grants can be paid automatically to you. 

Please read all the information carefully before submitting an application or inquiry. 

Since the start of the pandemic, we have been working incredibly hard to ensure Government funding for businesses has reached local companies as quickly and as securely as possible and that is continuing.

1. Local Restriction Support Grant (OPEN)

Eligibility

This grant is for those businesses whilst not forced to close have been severely impacted by the COVID restrictions. This grant prioritises businesses in the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure sectors.

Please note: Applicants must have a valid business rates account.

Eligible periods

October 31, 2020 - November 4, 2020

December 2, 2020 - December 30, 2020

Action required

This scheme is not currently open as it is superseded by the LRSG (Closed) Addendum during the period of national lockdown.

2. Local Restrictions Support Grant (CLOSED) Addendum – National Lockdown

Eligibility

This grant is for those businesses forced to close during national lockdown periods.

Please note: Applicants must have a valid business rates account.

Eligible periods

November 5, 2020 - December 2, 2020

January 5, 2021 - February 16, 2021

Action required

If you have not received notification of an automatic payment being made to you for these periods by January 25, 2021, please use our online application form, which will be available shortly.

3. Local Restriction Support Grant (CLOSED) TIER 3

Eligibility

This grant is for those businesses forced to close during Tier 3 restriction periods.

Please note: Applicants must have a valid business rates account.

Eligible periods

December 3, 2020 - December 30, 2020

Action required

If you have not received notification of an automatic payment being made to you for this period, please use our online application form, which is available on the Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed businesses) - Tier 3 Restrictions webpage.

4. Local Restriction Support Grant (CLOSED) TIER 4 ADDENDUM

Eligibility

This grant is for those businesses forced to close during Tier 4 restrictions. 

Please note: Applicants must have a valid business rates account.

Eligible periods

December 31, 2020 - January 4, 2021

Action required

If you have not received notification of an automatic payment being made to you for these periods by January 25, 2021, please use our online application form, which will be available shortly.

5. Additional Restrictions Grant

Eligibility

This is a discretionary grant scheme for businesses who have been severely financially impacted by the restrictions caused by Covid.

Businesses do NOT need to have a business rates account or have been forced to close to be eligible for this grant.

Eligible periods

Applications for this grant were open between November 18, 2020 and December 3, 2020.

Action required

Applications for this scheme are now CLOSED.

We are planning to launch a second application period for this grant soon. Please check back on this webpage for further updates.

6. Christmas Support Payment Wet-Led Pubs

Eligibility

This grant is for pubs where less than 50 per cent of their income is derived from food sales. 

Please note: Applicants must have a valid business rates account.

Eligible periods

December 2, 2020 - December 29, 2020.

Deadline for applications is January 31, 2021.

7. Local Restrictions Support Grant (SECTOR)

Eligibility

This grant applies to those businesses that have been mandated to close since March 23, 2020, e.g. nightclubs, dance halls, discotheques, sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars.

Please note: Applicants must have a valid business rates account.

Eligible periods

November 1, 2020 - November 4, 2020

December 2, 2020 - December 30, 2020

Action required

This scheme is not currently open as it is superseded by the LRSG (Closed) Addendum during the period of national lockdown. Payments for this grant will be paid automatically for eligible business where possible, if you have not received a payment please email .

8. Closed Business Lockdown Payment

This grant provides payments of £4,000, £6,000 or £9,000 depending on your rateable value to businesses forced to close which have a business rate account. This is in addition to the LRSG (Closed) Addendum.

Appeals for all Covid-19 business grants

There is no right to appeal, and the decision of the Council is final. As set out in the Business Grant Fund Policy, the Council’s interpretation of the guidance is at its own discretion and it will be the final arbiter of the definitions contained within this policy.
