Enterprise Zone

The Loughborough and Leicester Science and Innovation Enterprise Zone is the newest EZ in the Midlands. Two of the sites are in Loughborough. They provide top-class locations for activity in the advanced engineering, bioscience and pharmaceutical sectors in particular. The land and existing premises provide the capacity for several new occupiers and will provide a jobs creation boost of around 21,000 for the local economy. Internationally renowned 3M is currently moving to the Enterprise Zone.

Charnwood Campus: This site is designated as a Life Sciences Opportunity Zone and offers state of the art flexible laboratory space with specialist high quality research and development accommodation and serviced office facilities supporting bio-medical and pharmaceutical industries. Custom built property solutions are also available within the 23 ha landscaped campus site.

Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park: One of the largest science parks in the UK. Situated just one mile from the M1, this 106-hectare site is an outstanding location for knowledge-based businesses specialising in advanced engineering and manufacturing, high value research and development, energy and low carbon.

Business Rate Relief up to a maximum of £275,000 may be available to businesses locating within the Enterprise Zone before 31 March 2022 where their operations fall within the advanced manufacturing, ICT and life sciences sectors. However, it is recognised that science and innovation, by definition, is a fast evolving sector and potential developers and investors are invited to share their proposals with the Council which will always be anxious to support projects that help in delivering the enterprise park vision.
